Show Activities
The activities available at shows vary depending upon booth size and placement, venue, indoor or outdoor facilities, spacing between booths, and crowd size.
Demonstrations
Whenever possible, Sheeples tries to demonstrate each of the following at least once in every show:
- Hand Spinning on a spinning wheel
- Drop Spindle spinning
- Fleece preparation steps
- Knitting and Crocheting
- Loom Knitting
- Frame weaving
Outdoor events have also included day-long “Back to Back” demonstrations with several people performing each of the tasks involved in taking fleece from the back of the sheep to a finished knitted or woven shawl.
Children’s Activities
In co-operation with the show organizers, Sheeples can offer any of the following activities for children of all ages.
- Live Lambs for cuddling and education
- How to make yarn with a Drop Spindle*
- How to make rope with a friend*
- How to make felt*
- How to make felted soap*
- Learn to Finger Knit*
- Learn to Weave*
- Learn to Knit*
- Learn to Crochet*
* These activities are also available as a “Make and Take” for a small materials fee (always under $20) that includes a starter kit, instruction pamphlet and a lesson. |
